Description / Synopsis
Hugo Harvala (born 1914) discusses his family, his education in Ishpeming and West Ishpeming schools, childhood recreation and chores, how the Depression affected him, his work history, and his involvement with the Riverside Club, a social club in Ishpeming that he helped to establish in 1945. His career included time in iron mining for the Inland Steel Company, working as a fire officer for the conservation department, working in a flooring mill, and working as a chemical lab analyst for the Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company. He also speaks about the creation of the Riverside Club, their activities, how they raised the funds for a new building, the duties of the officers of the club, and the future of the club. |
