Description / Synopsis |
Description / Synopsis
Part 2 of an interview with David McClintock. Part 1 is not extant. This interview has extremely poor audio quality, but topics seem to include awards McClintock won in the Navy during World War II, his children, working for NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), a hurricane that caused his ship to collide with the Brooklyn Bridge, giving presentations to John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Baines Johnson, J. Edgar Hoover, and Robert F. Kennedy, his views on Robert McNamara and choices during the Gulf of Tonkin incident and the Vietnam War, and working with leaders in Israel including Golda Meir. Another major topic is his career at Northern Michigan University from 1965 to 1976, where he helped to expand the campus to deal with the enrollment boom, and the controversy over the Navy's Project ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) in Lake Superior. |
