Source: The Northwestern Lumberman July 30, 1887 As a result of the extension of the DSS and A Ry., there has been a rush into Gogebic and Ontonagon counties chiefly by homesteaders, but thare has been considerable l and opened up which is well timbered with pine and hemlock, while there are also a few good cedar swamps. The soil in agricultural localities being very productive.
