Photograph showing evidence of a serious accident. The United States Steel Company steamship "J. P. Morgan, Jr." is locking downbound in the MacArthur Lock. Evidence of temporary repairs are visible on the hull. The collision was with the steamer "Crete," which struck the Morgan while the two vessels' courses were nearly at right angles in fog, June 23, 1948, in western Lake Superior. |
